  • Embekke devalaya is an ancient shrine and a temple dedicated to lord kataragama. Built by king vikramabahu3rd of gampola(1357-1374)Embekke is world famous for wood carvings.
  • Gadaladeniya   Built almost exclusively of stone in 1344 by gampola king wickramabahu. The architecture is Dravidian, the entrance porch feature large stone pillars, which support a roof of huge stone slabs.  The 638 years Old jackwood doors still exhibits their original painting.
  • Lankathilaka 
  • Completed in 1344, but more traditional Sinhalese style. three storied building,  situated on a top of a gray rock above the fertile highland gree, the shrine contain ancient Buddha image of brick and plaster, plus devalas to four guardian deities of the island. Each with his consort. Wood carvers still work at the foot of the rock on which the temple stands. The painted doors of wood and frescoes still bright with their original paint on walls and ceilings in the shrine room. And superb seated image of Buddha
