Pinnawala elephant orphanage is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants, located in Pinnawala village, 13 km from kegalla town. Pinnawala has the largest flock of captive elephants in the world, in 2011 where the 88 elephants, including 39 males and 49 females from 3 generations.

  • Proceed to Kandy Railway station (vehicle will drop you in Kandy railway station and pick you up at Nanu oya Railway Station)
  • Nuwara Eliya is a famous city located in Central Highlands with elevation of 1900 Meters from the Sea level. The marvelous atmosphere, surrounded by tea plantations, waterfalls and breath taking views from the high elevation attracts local tourists and as well as tourists around the globe. Due to its high elevation Nuwara Eliya has subtropical highland climate, with a mean annual temperature of 16C. The recorded low temperature is -2.6 in January and December.
