Ella is a small town in the Badulla District. It’s approximately 200km away from Colombo and situated at an elevation of 1041 meters above from the sea level. The area has rich bio-diversity, dense with numerous varieties of flora and fauna. The Ella gap allows views across the southern plains of Srilanka.

Train Journey from Nuwara Eliya or Kandy
Taking the train to or from Ella is the most famous stretch of train travel in Sri Lanka, and is nearly a tourist attraction in itself. At each train station on the way, the train cabins were filled with sellers hustling treats like freshly cut pineapple and mango with cinnamon, corn with salty butter, freshly made rice and curry, chili fritters and crispy papadums. Yummy!!
