Peak wilderness including Adams Peak is a Tropical Rain forest.  Huge forest area has been cutoff during the British period to plant tea. It radiates River Kalu, River Kelani and many waterfalls.

The Adams Peak 2243meter height. According to the chronicle Mahavamsa the Buddha has visited Sri Pada after visiting Kelani. The foot print is 1.8 meter long.

And the pilgrimage season starts in December to May. Generally People start to climb around 1 am in the darkness, so can have chance of witnessing the sunrise on the summit. During the off season it’s very hard to climb due to heavy rain, thick mist & strong wind.

And the area is surrounded by gem bearings.
